Personal Fundraising
Host your own Lighthouse fundraiser – it is a powerful way to inspire giving within your network and to raise awareness about the Lighthouse in the community. It’s both rewarding and fun, and anyone can do it. The options are endless! Get creative!
You can do this through Celebration Events, Personal Challenges, or Tribute Gifts.
Everyone has special days! Celebrate your birthday, anniversary, graduation, wedding, baby shower, and other meaningful milestones in your life with the Lighthouse. Make these days matter for more than one day by making an impact in the lives of blind and DeafBlind individuals. Ask your friends, families, neighbors, co-workers, or whoever to donate to the Lighthouse in lieu of presents.
Get creative! Come up with challenges others can rally around that you have pledged to do. It does not matter how wacky the idea is, as long as your friends and family will pay to see you do it! Make sure you post your progress on social media to get people excited about your challenge.
It could be as easy as growing a beard for six months, cutting your long hair, take a polar plunge, losing a certain amount of weight, running a marathon, climbing a mountain, or using your next athletic event to encourage people to give to the Lighthouse.
Lighthouse staff are happy to help you develop and promote your Personal Challenge Fundraiser! And we have lots of challenge ideas!
Let someone know how much they mean to you by donating to the Lighthouse in their honor! You demonstrate your commitment to our mission, while acknowledging or celebrating an important person in your life.
You can honor milestones in other’s lives like birthdays, graduations, anniversaries, or just simply showing someone you are thinking of them.
A memorial gift is a touching way to honor the legacy of those who have passed. This is especially meaningful to their friends, family, and loved ones. We will make sure they know just how important they were to you.
To make a tribute gift, please visit our donation page and complete the “Honor Information” section when making your gift.
Personalize Your Fundraising Campaign:
Make sure you promote your activities on social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and more. Establish a goal and update your progress. Send emails to your contacts to share why you are dedicated to the Lighthouse’s mission.
Your generous donation of time, resources, and access to your network will ensure that the Lighthouse can continue to be a transformative resource for individuals who are blind and DeafBlind in our community for the next hundred years.
If you have questions please contact the Lighthouse’s Events and Development Coordinator Molly McLachlan at (206) 436-2253 or mmclachlan@seattlelh.org. We will work with you to set up your personalized fundraiser for the Lighthouse and answer any questions you may have.
Thank you for your support of the Lighthouse!
