Join the Lighthouse’s Empowerment Circle.
With more individuals empowering the Lighthouse every day we can make sure employees who are blind, DeafBlind, and blind with other disabilities are set-up to succeed at work and in the community. As a member of the Empowerment Circle, you are committed to a monthly gift designated to our Employee and Community Services Programs.
Because of you, our employees who are blind and DeafBlind have the opportunity to receive up to three hours of paid training each week. This training includes braille instruction, assistive technology, American Sign Language (ASL) and Pro-Tactile ASL, English as a Second Language, safe travel through Orientation and Mobility (O&M) training, and other leadership and work related certifications and educational opportunities.
Just look at what one monthly gift can do:
- A gift of $50 provides each new employee with a safety welcome kit including high visibility hats, vests, gloves, and lights to attach to their white cans to travel safely.
- A gift of $150 will provide one hour of one on one computer skills and assistive technology training for DeafBlind indivudlas.
- A gift of $200 will support safe travel for Lighthouse employees to learn how to travel safely and independatly both in the work place and in the community.
- A gift of $750 allows our accessible technology team to produce our own refreshible braille displays that can be attached to machining eqiupment giving access to blind and DeafBlind employees.
- A gift of $1,000 helps create customized workstations that iclude braille displays and accessible measuring devices for blind and DeafBlind employees working in our aerospace division.
- A gift of any amount will empower people who are blind, DeafBlind, and blind with other disabilities.
